Docusy 5.2: mark up and redact, on-device document AI, and a scanner rebuilt from the ground up

Docusy 5.2 is the biggest release since Docusy 5. Mark up and redact a scan by hand, ask your device to summarise a page or read it aloud, and capture a two-sided ID or a book spread with a rebuilt scanner. Your very first scan is now shaped around the one thing you came to do. As always, everything runs on your device.

A first run made for you

Most apps open with a tour. Docusy now opens with your own first real scan. Tell Docusy the one thing you came to do — fix recognised text, sign a page, or pull the totals off a receipt — and the first launch takes you straight there, on a sample document in your language, so the payoff lands before you’ve created anything.

Mark up and redact

A scan in Docusy is real, recognised text — so you can mark it up by touching the words. Highlight, underline and strike through recognised text with a tap, add lines, arrows and shapes, and drop dated stamps — Approved, Paid, Draft, Confidential. And when something is sensitive, black it out for real: Docusy bakes the redaction into the export, so the removed content is gone, not just hidden under a box.

On-device document AI

Docusy can now read your document back to you and tell you what’s in it. Summarise any page in a tap — the summary is written on your device, it’s free, and it never leaves your phone. Have a page read aloud, or check a Document Insight card that flags matches across pages. (Page summaries require iOS 26.)

A scanner rebuilt

The camera is new. A faster, redesigned scanner replaces the system one and adds the awkward captures other scanners fumble: two-sided ID cards composed onto a single page, and a book-spread split that turns one spread into two clean pages. While you adjust a scan, filter previews update instantly, shadows are removed automatically, and an adaptive black-&-white mode rescues unevenly lit pages.

Find anything

Big libraries got easier to search. Use the in-document find bar to jump to a word on the page, run semantic search across every scan to surface the right document by meaning, and move a page from one document to another when it landed in the wrong place.

A fresh look

Docusy now opens in a refined dark theme, with a System / Light / Dark switch in Settings so it looks the way you want on every device.

Also in this release

  • Plain-text (.txt) export of a document’s recognised text.
  • Undo delete — undo an accidental page or photo deletion.
  • Sharper extraction — noticeably better receipt totals and line items, across more languages and currencies.
  • Better recognition on rotated, dark and small-print pages.
  • Remove hidden data on export to strip document metadata, plus Add to Docusy to import files from other apps with Siri and Shortcuts.
  • Deeper iPad & Mac support throughout, including a VoiceOver pass and dragging documents out to other apps.
